When is Hajj 2025?

The rituals of Hajj will be started on June 4th, 2025, and end on the evening of June 9th, 2025. These are tentative dates. The exact date will confirm after seeing the moon of the Islamic month (the 12th and the last month of the Islamic Calendar, “Dhul Hijjah”).

What is the meaning and purpose of Hajj?

It is an Arabic word that means purpose, aim, or destination. Pilgrims travel to the Kaaba (known as the House of Allah) to perform Hajj. There are five pillars in Islam, and Hajj is one of them. Islam makes Hajj compulsory for an adult, free Muslim, and sane who is capable of performing Hajj once in the entire lifetime. Here, a capable person means who is in good health and stable financially (can afford the whole trip).

You can see the obligation of Hajj from the Hadith:

(Sahih Muslim: 1337):

‘Prophet (S.A.W.) addressed his companions and said: “O people, Allah has made Hajj obligatory for you; so, perform Hajj.”‘

Let’s discuss some essential days of Dhul Hijjah:

1st of Dhul Hijjah (28th May, 2025)

The first 10 days of this Islamic month are the most blessed days of the whole Islamic calendar. Muslims all around the world prepare themselves for the Hajj journey.

4th of Dhul Hijjah (31st May, 2025)

It’s the deadline for all non-Saudi flights that bring pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. People who travel for Hajj must have to arrive before this date to avoid any mishaps.

It is known as Tarwiyah, and it’s the official start of Hajj. All the pilgrims head to Mina, where they pray a full day and prepare themselves for the upcoming rituals.

9th of Dhul Hijjah (5th June, 2025)

It is known as the Day of Arafah. It’s the most important day when all the pilgrims gather at Mount Arafah for divine connection and heartfelt supplications. People who are not performing Hajj may fast as it is highly rewarded.

10th of Dhul Hijjah (6th June, 2025)

Pilgrims begin their return journey home after completing all the rituals. Not all pilgrims leave on 14th, some leave earlier. It depends on personal circumstances.

Benefits of Performing Hajj:

Conclusion

There are so many hidden blessings and advantages of Hajj. Here are some of them, as per Hadith:

1. One of the five pillars of Islam

It is one of the five pillars of Islam; you can understand the importance of performing Hajj by the following Hadith, and it also shows how much Allah likes this.

As Prophet (S.A.W.) said:

“Islam is based on five (principles) and performing Hajj is one of them.”

(Sahih Bukhari: 8)

2. Previous sins will be washed

As Hazrat Abu Hurairah (R.A.) said that Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) said:

“Whoever performs Hajj for Allah’s pleasure and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins then he will return (after Hajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew.”

(Sahih Bukhari: 1521)

As per this Hadith, if you perform Hajj as per Sunnah and you intend to please Allah, then Allah forgives your sins and cleanses you, and it is mentioned that after Hajj, pilgrims whose Hajj will be accepted will become pure as a new baby.

3. Paradise will be yours.

As said by Abu Hurairah (R.A.), the Prophet (S.A.W.) said:

“And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (the one accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise.”

(Sahih Bukhari: 1773)

If you perform Hajj with pure intentions and according to Sunnah, then your Hajj will be accepted, and the reward of accepted Hajj is Paradise (Jannah).

4. Performers of Hajj are the guests of Allah.

You know, guests are honored and respected in Islam. You can understand this with the following Hadith:

“The pilgrims performing Hajj and ‘Umrah are a delegation to Allah. If they call upon Him, He will answer them; and if they ask for His forgiveness, He will forgive them.”

(Ibn Majah: 2892)

If you perform Hajj, it means you are the guest of Allah, and you can ask him whatever you dream of this life and the afterlife.

5. Hajj is considered as Jihad for women.

Described by Aisha (R.A.):

‘I said, “O Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W.)! We consider Jihad as the best deed.” The Prophet (S.A.W.) said, “The best Jihad (for women) is Hajj Mabrur.”‘

(Sahih Bukhari: 1520)

As per this Hadith, Hajj is considered the best Jihad for women as they are not required to participate in battles or wars.

Pilgrims perform many steps during Hajj. Pilgrims can complete all these ritual in 5 days. So many Muslims from the whole world go for Hajj every year in Makkah.

Every pilgrim must learn the steps of Hajj because if you don’t follow the proper steps, your Hajj may not accept your Hajj.
