The 25th of March marked the one year wedding anniversary of my Husband and I. To think back, I cannot recall how fast the time has flown by. It was during the 25th,26th and 27th of March 2016 that our elaborate Pakistani wedding was held in New Jersey, with just a smattering of snow to show winter. Since then, I have moved from to Dubai to Houston to live with my husband and honestly, God has been great to us both. I am thankful to have a husband like mine who is not only loving and gentle but also generous.
Anyway, 1 year to date and he went out of his way to prepare a wonderful surprise. Knowing what a seafood fanatic I am and that a trip to Re Lobster would be too cliché for the both of us, he had a 7-o-clock reservation at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. It was my first time at the restaurant and I was glad that we went. The service was nice and smooth, where the servers would come to us after every course to make sure we were doing alright.
I wish I had taken a picture of the garlic loaf and fresh butter that they served us before our meal. Not only was it nice and warm but the garlic butter drizzled over the warm bread gave it this beautiful smell. The loaf was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside- just the perfect combination. They served us the bread with freshly made butter that just did wonders for the bread! The husband liked it so much, we ended up asking for seconds before we had even ordered the appetizers!
BAKED CRAB MAC AND CHEESE
It was a little difficult to decide what to get for our appetizer since everything sounded so good. Our server ended up recommending the Baked crab mac and cheese and I’m glad we went with her suggestion. I didn’t get a chance to take my own picture but trust me when I say this, it looked exactly like the picture here! From the serving dish to the ooey gooey ness of the mac and cheese with pieces of crab meat.. it was exactly the same. I really loved how it was warm and the cheese was super melted and not too salty. My husband, who’s a health nut, held back a little but I absolutely dove in.
SHRIMP & SCALLOP ORECCHIETTE PASTA
For the main course I went with the Shrimp Scallop and orecchiette pasta. When the plate came up, I was already stuffed on the French bread and Mac and cheese that the plate looked over whelming to me. But when I dug into it, it honestly didn’t feel like a lot. The jumbo shrimps on top were seared lightly and had a nice savory taste while the pasta was delicious and creamy. You can always tell if the chef knows how to cook his seafood by the texture of his scallops and the ones on my plate were amazing. They were light and tender, definitely not over cooked with a beautiful sear on the outside. I could not finish the whole plate and had to get a take home box but if my words don’t convince you then the picture I took of my plate definitely should.
Over all, I loved that my husband chose to take us to Pappadeaux which made it the perfect celebration of our 1 year together
